Different types and sizes<\/h3>\n

When it comes to cycling clothing, there are roughly three categories in terms of quality: low, mid, and top-tier. You can spend as much or as little as you like. We advise you to pay attention to quality because it’s more important than you might think. Do you want a kit for the coming years? And do you cycle several hours a week? Then we recommend not opting for the cheapest option. An inferior chamois, for example, can result in the kit ending up in the closet. This is exactly what you want to avoid when having your own kit made (especially if it features sponsor logos ?). In this discussion, we’ll focus on the mid and top tiers.<\/p>\n

Price of a summer kit<\/h3>\n

Most cyclists opt for a summer kit (jersey + shorts). Research shows that for this combination, you can expect to spend between 100-175 Euros excluding VAT. At this price point, you’ll get an above-average outfit in terms of quality. Here’s an estimate of quality per type:<\/p>\n

Low-tier (jersey + shorts): 50-100 Euros excluding VAT. You really don’t want to go below 50 Euros for ethical and sustainability reasons! Mid-tier (jersey + shorts): 100-175 Euros excluding VAT. Top-tier (jersey + shorts): 200 Euros excluding VAT or more. Price of a winter kit: A winter kit or a kit for the transitional seasons is often a good option. Naturally, you don’t want your custom kit with logos covered under another jacket or pair of shorts. For winter products, you often need to budget an extra 10-30 Euros compared to summer products. Expect the following prices:<\/p>\n

Low-tier (jersey + long pants + jacket): 75-150 Euros excluding VAT. Mid-tier (jersey + long pants + jacket): 150-250 Euros excluding VAT. Top-tier (jersey + long pants + jacket): 250 Euros excluding VAT or more. Design costs<\/p>\n

When purchasing custom cycling clothing, you may incur design costs. This is when a designer creates a design according to your preferences. It’s a process where you turn your logos and wishes into a design. The better and more renowned the designer, the higher the fee. On average, expect to pay around 100 Euros to have your own design created. Some suppliers also offer an online configurator where you can create the design yourself. Often, this eliminates design costs, but there’s usually a minimum order quantity (around 5 to 10 pieces). The advantage of having a design created is that you’ll be working with a professional who can also provide fashion advice on color combinations. Additionally, a designer ensures that the logos will be legible in practice.<\/p>\n

Price of custom kit vs. collection item from webshop<\/h3>\n

The rule of thumb is that you’ll spend about the same on a custom kit as you would on a collection item from a webshop. Custom clothing generally comes directly from the factory. There are no intermediaries adding extra margins. In other words, with your own logos, but for roughly the same price.<\/p>\n

Team clothing for your team or group?<\/h3>\n

The larger the group, the greater the advantage. Often, the first benefits start with a kit for 10 people or more. This can entail a discount percentage of around 5%. If, for example, you’re with a small group but everyone purchases all the items, there’s a good chance of a volume discount. Keep in mind that not every manufacturer offers this discount.<\/p>\n
